Rhino rotary mower gear oil.

I have a Rhino 272 rotary mower and I need to change the oil in the gear box. The Manuel says use P/N 00786250 oil. I can't find any cross reference as to what weight I need to buy from the local Auto parts store or tractor supply. ???

Should be a 90 wt equivalent. My Brown 472 actually called for corn head grease, a flowable grease that works well in gearboxes.

Here is what Rhino states:

Approximately 2011 85w140 gear oil was introduced as the recommended gear oil for all Rhino gearboxes. Today Rhino factory fills all gearboxes with Lucas Oil 85W140.
Top off oil for the Lucas Oil or the original “000” can be any GL5 85W140 oil.

I run 140 in my gearboxes. If you live up north and need the lighter weight for winter operation so be it.

purchased a Rhino Turbo 96" some years ago. it came with a dark thick proprietary gear oil they recommended @ the time. since then i inquired w/the manufacturer & they recommended 85/140 hypoid gear oil. just be sure the vents are cleared when you make the gear oil change.
could be a synthetic 75/90 wt would also be ok too. just keep an eye on temp of gear box & of course the fluid level
