Rick,

My 2007 TD95D was apparently available with a Tier I engine and then switched over to a Tier II engine. I'm told I have a Tier II engine.

Do you knowwhat hardware changed on the engine when it went from Tier I to Tier II and what Chasis or Engine Serial numbers identify Tier I versus Tier II?

The reason I'm asking is because don't have a lot of confidence in what the local NH dealer is telling me. (They're good folks but they get their info from NH tech support. The dealer's been given some info from NH that is contrary to what I all ready know about the fuel system parts. When I 've questioned them, NH has come back and changed their story, so I don't have a lot of confidence in their answers.)

I did some digging today on this topic. The facts presented are true as far as I can determine; the opinions and speculation are my own. All is worth exactly what you paid for it. Information concerning the implementation of the various 'Tiers" of emission compliance are taken from the tables here:
Emission Standards: USA: Nonroad Diesel Engines

Your tractor's final assembly date was 10/01/2007. The New Holland dealer access parts database has two catalogs for TD95D tractors, one with the title "TD95D Tier II 1/2004 and up" and the other titled TD95D upgrade 12/2006 and up. Both catalogs list engine parts for a "TTF Tier II Engine as well as an "FPT engine" which has no Tier number associated with it. IIRC, the only external changes Iveco had to make on their Tier I engine to meet Tire II standards was in the injection pump and injectors. The transfer pump, filter head and filters are the same, Tiers I & II. Comparing your tractor's build date with the implementation of Tier II rules, there is no question in my mind that if the tractor was legally sold new in the US, it is a Tier II tractor. In fact, any TD95D sold legally in the US would have to be Tier II compliant as the standard was implemented coincidently with the introduction of the model (actually vice versa) . The only reason I can imagine for the existence of a TD95D built after 1/1/2004 with a Tier I engine would be for marketing in a part of the world where emission compliance is not required. Tier III standards effective 1/1/2007 was coincidental with the introduction of the TD5050 which uses different filters and many engine differences over the prior TD95D. Bottom line, I can't imagine that your tractor is a Tier I machine.

Thanks for the info Rick. You've confirmed the info I eventually got from the local NH dealer.

That 10/1/2007 build date goes along with the entry into service date of 12/15/2007 on the paper work that the owner gave me. The tractor was sold by a NH dealer in Artesia, NM.

In reading the information in theTD95D Service Manual, I think the only external change going to Tier II was the addition of a temperature sensor to the water pump housing that signals the injection pump to change the pump timing depending on the coolant temperture. If I recall correctly, the timing is advanced when the coolant comes to a certain temperature. i presume the engine oil filter is the same, Tier I and Tier II, also.

Thanks again for your efforts in this matter.

Jerry
