My 54" decks work great, and my 7 acres of lawn is anything but flat. Only scalping is when a mole hill or ant hill is encountered.

I suggest the JD x304 as well. I have much the same on my acre lot - lots of obstacles, although with the ash borer we have lost about 20 of them so far. I have a miulti-terrain lot, so the x304 tranny is pretty wimpy (I'm on my 3rd tranny) but the mower is made for lots like yours if your ground is pretty flat. bh

3rd tranny? Ouch. What did that cost?

I get scalping with my 42" deck. And I got various, interesting grades to deal with.
Maybe I'll overhaul the lawn, so I can mow with a 1026R.
