Awhile back (5 years ago ) I bought a used, very old Gilson riding mower for my daughter and son n law since they have a 1/2 acre yard to cut where they rent. Took quite a bit to get it working half way decent but it was cheap. I painted it to look like a Monster drink can since he liked Monster energy drinks and he loved cutting the grass with it ( took him 4 hours with a push mower before.
Anyway, this year it konked out, cant find replacement parts and its just dead... so I found someone to trade a nice Craftsman GT1000 16HP 42" cut rider for a snow blower I fixed ( supposed to be a harsh winter in the Farmers Almantic for this year ) so traded a 16" Toro Powerlite 3.5hp
The Craftsman GT1000 starts and runs great but the blade wasn't engaging, we got to working on it today, just needed a new belt. The tires leak air and the front axle beam is bent, it steers but going right it cuts hard and hard to turn back so the son n law is going to get new tires soon, take the beam off and see if we can straighten it ( just where the knuckle is, it is bent rearwards as it must have fallen off a trailer or something to bend the beam ) if all else we will find a parts mower or order a new beam. and Ill sharpen the blade next time Im out there. All in a days work we got it cutting great and I trimmed everything up while he mowed.
Being they were having it cut, now saving them $40 a week and they are tickled pink !
