Ripped off tilt anchor

No good deed goes unpunished, so it seems. Took my 422 to a neighbor's house to move some dirt and ripped the tilt anchor off the frame. Got it back to the shop and found that the anchor is welded to what looks like 3/16 plate with no bracing directly behind the anchor point. Bracing is a bit on either side of the anchor point so the plate the anchor is welded to is taking the load and flexing. This setup is prime for fatigue cracking and that is what I think happened. As I weld it back in place I have to figure a way to add in some bracing.

Glad you can weld. If it was me I'd have to get someone else to do it.

notice the rust? it has been failing for a while... my steering cylinder ripped as well....

Has this happened to anybody else? First time I think I've seen it. Got me thinking maybe some bracing added on would be a good idea as I'm approaching 1000 hours?

I had this happened to one of my lift arms. I took the piece that broke off and ground it to where it would easily slip back through the hole with a good gap to give plenty of weld penetration. I took the piece that broke off and then welled a larger than the hole piece to that broken off piece. Put it through from the back and pull it tight with something and weld up the gap from the front penetrating all the way through to the new flange plate.

I have long since known that the truth hurts..... I feel fortunate 2013 I only nearly burned up my tractor, completely destroyed the bearings and shaft in my mower, destroyed 3 tire tubes and one tire.... It was a quiet year.... I do think I am forgetting something though....
