I have a 1984 John Deer 316 with the Onan B43E series engine in it. It all of the sudden began having a drastically rising oil level as in 5 to 6 inches above the full mark within a half hour of running and then flowing through the crankcase ventilator and flooding the air cleaner and carb with oil. The fuel pump is externally mounted to the engine heat shroud and was replaced with no effect. The only other thing I can think is the carb leaking fuel past the rings. Is this a possibility? If so, would a carb rebuilt solve the problem or am I needing to look at another motor for this unit?
