Oil & Fuel RK37 Cab Fuel Gauge

My tractor has about 170 hours on it. The other day I got stranded in my field. The fuel gauge was reading just over half. The tank was actually empty. Since filling it up and using it, the gauge only reads full. Has anyone else had this issue and if so, what is the fix?

It might have a bad ground or contact.

As a back up, You can replace the cap with a cap with a gage built in. Just have to determine what depth.

Same issue on my new 48" SCAG Liberty ZT mower.
Fuel gauge is manual float type, worked first 8 hours, now always reads full....... is not electric!

The tank on my RK37HC cracked a few months after purchase in 2018. There was a defect on just the cab model. Mine was the second one at my dealer and I know there was another after mine. The new tank fit tighter and when I got it installed my gauge either read full or empty. I can't remember which but when I removed the panel covering the tank the gauge worked perfectly. I reinstalled the panel and after a few minutes of bumping around in the pasture it messed up again. It appears the new tank or sending unit sits a little higher causing the panel to press down on the electrical connector. I just added a small washer on each of the four 10mm bolts as spacers and I've been good to go for 3 years now. Not sure if that's your issue since it took so long to show up but the sending unit is very easy to access. It's only the connector and two small nuts. I would think that if you remove the sending unit you could measure the resistance with an ohm meter to see if it varies when moving the float up and down.
