Nope, this basically chews off whatever depth they set it at and that conveyor loads it into a truck.

I have worked at a company that operated a few of them, among a fleet of other asphalt machinery.
The cold planer operators replaced the carbide tipped chisels every few days, and the worn ones were collected in a separate scrapbin. A scrapbin full of worn planer chisels would be worth a couple of thousand euros...

The chisels would last longer if they heated the asphalt first, with a burner wagon with a 1000 liter propane jug on it and propelled by a Honda 12hp.
