Hi

Just wondering if anyone has started using the Robotic Lawn Mowers yet? How do they perform and work? I have seen some video's of them cutting and am not sure if I am impressed with the quality of cut, as well as you still need to use the string trimmer from time to time. I guess they are good if you don't have the time to cut grass or just plain not like cutting grass. Hmmm.... I really love cutting grass with my 455 AWS Deere, so I don't think I will be trading it in anytime soon for one of these units.

As far as commerical Grounds maintence Business's, I wonder if this is the start of the end of commerical grass cutting and grounds maintence busness's as when people move to these Robot mowers, there won't be a need any more for Lawn crews, unless the business's change focus to triming up after the robot mowers and Landscaping.

Personally, I think it will be a few years away until everyone( which I doubt everyone) is running these mowers on their properties.

I doubt these mowers( at least not yet) can cut and multch heavy leafs, unlike traditional mowers with baggers.

I guess change can be a good and bad, I will have to think of ways to keep my young lawn care company running so it does not go exstinct when the Robomowers start gaining popularity everywhere. In the meantime, I will continue jumping on the mower to cut grass as I truely enjoy it. I am only 20, so maybe when I am 40 I will be ready for one of these mowers.

Take Care Jason B

I don't have any experience with robot lawn mowers, but I seriously doubt they will ever replace lawn care companies.

I'll bet that the lawn care service industry eventually ends up with something in between robomow Robomow and the Farm GPS Systems. A major advantage of a lawn care service is that the customer doesn't have to store and maintain the equipment, and the service takes care of the clippings, etc.

Another aspect of this is that a lawn service company that has machines running all day every day will always be able to justify the expense of a more costly machine vs. a customer that uses the machine once a week to take care of a single lawn.

The equipment will evolve only so far as it improves the efficiency or effectiveness of the operator, but there'll still be an operator, and an owner, and income, and expenses.

I bet they would make a really cool crunch when you run them over with a 700 lb mower!

No doubt if i bought one of these, it would malfunction and only mow my neighbors lawn !
