Due to the recent flash floods, I have a bottomland field that is starting to turn rocky! Every time the creek gets out of it's bank, more and more river rock is washed into the field. Is there an implement that I could drag or something through the field sifting out the rocks?
Thanks

How big are the rocks??

I made a small drag, about 5'X5', then welded RR spikes to the 2nd edge. They stick down into the ground about 5". When dropped down onto some chain link fence it will pick up and hold rock from about 5" down to 1.5" or so. Every now and then it gets picked up and the rocks dumped out. It's at a job site right now, when picked up will take some pictures of it.

For smaller rocks- 2 to 3 inches and smaller a drag is best. For rocks 3 inches and bigger use a rock bucket on a front loader. There are many styles, common is 3 inch gap with 5.5 ft bucket width.

Rock Picker! Generally to expensive to buy but maybe a rental. I have used a rental Loftness "Quik Pic" on my skid steer and it worked really well. Most of the towables are made for the larger HP tractors but some of the older ones may still be out there for smaller tractors. As good as the one I rented was for picking rocks, it was even better at picking up scattered firewood.

Thanks for the reply's. Crash325, that'd be great if you could get pics of what you made. I don't have access to a skid loader but I do have a welder :) .... These rocks have built up to where I can't take a disk through anymore for fear of dinging up the blades.

I like the looks and idea of the quik pik. So now you have my mind turning thinking of what kind of a drag I could make similar to the quik pik :)

There are quite a few examples of rock pickers on youtube. The one attached looks to have a ground driven "flail" as I see no PTO shaft. You might check with your farm/agricultural office to see if there are rentals available. Personally I can't see owning a dedicated rock picker unless I was going to do custom work for other farmers. I do have a rock bucket for my skid steer but it seems pretty slow in scattered rock situations.

That degelman looks awesome. But I can't see buying one to do a small field. Not cost effective in my situation. Does anyone know where one can be rented in NW Missoui?

You might check with your ASC office. Surely other people in the area need rocks picked also. Haybuster also makes a picker but I haven't seen them operate.

If the field isn't too large what about a Boy Scout troop fundraiser. So much $ per bucket of rock to support the local troop.
