Last night, I just had reaffirmed in my mind why I need a tractor even though my property is small. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif Except for the topsoil I brought in, it's all rocks, roots, and clay. It takes 30 minutes with a pick axe to just dig a 6" round x 6" deep hole for a simple plant. With the tractor I can either tear the ground up using the teeth on the FEL bucket, or use it to move new dirt with the FEL, or pull the loaded trailer to the right area.
I'm thinking it might be real useful to rig up a small clamp-on bucket that I can attach to the bottom of the FEL bucket easily. We all want a backhoe /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif but I really think it'd be overkill in this case. Or maybe a 3pt sub-soiler or single-point plow would prove useful since it's an inexpensive attachment? It's generally small areas where I need to loosen the soil.
