I need to lower my roll over bar on a TC30 by about 5 inches. Can a dealer do this ? If not how ????

I doubt a dealer would touch it, but I could be wrong. My dealer won't even recommend drilling a hole in it, as it may create some liability problems down the road if something happens and they could be sued. Unfortunate, but apparently these things happen.

You may have to do it on your own, or possibly find a welder friend who doesn't have enough money that he isn't afraid to stick his neck out. Not a nice thing to do to a friend, is it?

Sorry not to have a better answer, but don't give up hope, maybe others will have a better one.

I doubt you will find a dealer to lower your ROPS. THat is the purpose of a ROPS in case of an upset, you will want that height if that should happen. A folding ROPS could be an option for you, but only use the lowered position as needed. Safety is most important!

I just checked the specs on a TC30 and the height is 82.4" with ag tires. A TC29 is 87.8" with ag tires, so with my industrial tires it's around 87" even. 82.4" would be just right for me, since I've always wished mine was a few inches lower (just enough to fit in a standard 7' garage door). Why do you need to go any lower than 82.4"?

I think a good design would be to have a collapsible roll bar with 2 sizes of square tubing so that one part fits inside the other part (like the way a 2" tow hitch fits into the receiver) and the top slides up and down with pins to hold it in place at various heights.

I agree that a dealer would not do any modifications due the fear of a lawsuit. A welding shop might though. How hard is it to take off?

He might be able to refit you with a folding ROPS if New Holland has an approved one for the TC30. I have to fold the ROPS on my TC18 to fit it in the garage.

I have a folding ROPS on my TC29D. Boy, have I taken a ribbing for it, too! No less than three times in two years I have forgotten the ROPS was in the full up position when entering my garage. The results are not pretty! /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif The ROPS is about 1/2" too high, and rips off the top door stop board, catches the bottom of the 7' garage door and forces it up into the automatic door opener. Three times I have had to repair/replace the top door stop board, fix the door gasketing, and remount the door opener to the ceiling. You can imagine what Boomerbabe has said to me! /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif The folding ROPS is great, but if it could only be automated to lower upon approach to the garage!

I am so happy, we just built a house two years ago and I told my builder that I had to have 8' doors on the garage. Sure am glad now because my ROPS would not fit if I went any less.

I glad I'm not the only one out here that occationally forgets the ROPs are up and pulls in the garage. Kubotababe had the same reaction /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif, my solution I built a utility shed made sure the opening was tall enough to accomodate the tractor with the ROPs extended.

I had one close call with the folding ROPS and my garage door, but fortunately saw it just in time.

I have developed the habit of a "cool down" period for the tractor before I put it away. During that time I knock off (or wash off) any excessive dirt or snow off the tractor and implements AND make sure the ROPS is down. The process usually takes 3-5 minutes and results in a cleaner garage and a clean tractor waiting for the next use, and, so far, an unadulterated garage door.
