Roller Build

   / Roller Build #21
From my use of rollers a 200 lbs/ft roller is fine for new seedbeds. If you cross a small mound such as gophers make the entire weight of the roller is pressing down in that smaller foot print if you center over it. That can make a huge difference.

I built this roller last year which is 3pt quick hitch compatible and it weighs about 430 lbs./ft. I will be using it on some jobs in the next few months.

Very kewl roller...why did you do them separately like that? looks like 100# cylinders cut to 1 foot links and filled with concrete

With the segmented rollers you can turn easily without skidding. Having two rows also allows you to hook up with the quick hitch with out getting off the tractor. If you have a larger rock you need to press down you can tilt the rear gang up and almost double the weight per foot.

I bought the pipe as drops when walking through a friends scrap pile for $10 each all cut to 11 1/2" lengths $70 bucks total. These are 18" diameter with 1/2" wall thickness. Concrete was left overs from two larger pours so that was free. Other steel was left overs plus a length of 4x4 tubing. Cost for everything was about $240. I have to get cataract surgery on my left eye and recover from that then fix the welding up. Dang near impossible to weld with cataracts can't see crap.
