OK, I have a lead on a JD 3 bottom rollover plow "needs work" and I have a 50 hp tractor. I have a 6' tiller but think that plowing first and waiting a couple weeks before tilling would work much better for my organic food plot than tilling two or three times to break up the sod prior to planting. Am I wacko or on the right path???

50 HP will handle a 3-bottom plow in most cases. A 3-bottom rollover plow ISN'T most cases. As far as weight, you're dealing with 6 bottoms, albiet shorter coupled, but a typical 50 hp tractor will struggle with a 3-bottom 2-way plow to lift it. Also, that added weight means a struggle to hold it to operating depth when it's in the ground. It takes a stout tractor and a few front end weights to handle that plow.

Yes, plowing sod before tilling is a GOOD idea though, just MAYBE not with that plow.
