Snow,
We bought a double decker bed for our son's room at RTG last Fall (from the kids RTG). It was delivered as promised, and the guys set it up correctly and efficiently. It is one of those beds with tree house and tent features, so it took some 3-D thinking to see it all together. As for the construction, it full hardwood construction, save for the mattress slats which are a little wimpy, but easily replaced. No particle board, glue laminate, or veneer in the construction.
We would certainly buy from them again. They do carry some pieces which utilize veneer/particle board construction, so one has to be mindful as to the intended purpose. For example, I would not use that for a bookcase or other weight supporting piece. I've seen too many sag after they have been loaded with heavy books. For non-weight bearing applications, I would have to say that their veneer pieces are well made. The best, however is the Swedish-made furniture from
Ikea I don't know if you have an Ikea in your area. They are well worth a few hundred mile drive in a rental truck. We got a number of bedroom pieces from Ikea, and their laminates are incredible. The Swedish are miles ahead of everyone else. Friends of our who live in Europe tell us that Ikea furniture is the #1 seller in countries like Italy and France where cabinet making is still an active trade.
Anyhoo, RTG has some quality stuff. Like anything, look (and touch) before you leap.
