I'm there also -- never used a single grapple - but have been glad a time or three that I had 2. ie: when moving that cattle guard - I believe I was able to get a much better hold on it with the 2 arms than if I had only had one -- easier balance. I see it daily when moving brush as well where the pile is a bit bigger on one side or there is a big log ---glad I have a 60" with 2 arms. That said -- can't argue the point that a narrow one would certainly dig better. There are a couple big fans of the narrow grapples in here. Mine is not a lot wider at 56" but it does have two arms which I think are better at many things. To be fair I have never used a grapple with one but I don't think they would be as good holding a unblanced load of tree limbs or picking up and stacking 800 lb bales of hay. To each their own.
