Root Rake/ Grapple combo

JJ,

Are the curves on the 16 & 18' shanks the same? In the photos, it looks like the 16's sweep forward a bit more.

J_J,
Next time you start a project like this and need to drill something that is a little on the hard side like these shanks, give me a shout. I can probably drill these holes in a matter of just a couple of minutes.

Very nice J.J. looks really handy. I use my forks for moving just about everything around here. Some times they fall short. I really need some sort of grapple attachment. Once again great job.

JJ, I was wondering if your grapple could be used to rake in this position.

You could adapt a york rake for back grooming hills and berms like I did. It worked great!

Dear Rivco,

Do you want to talk about what you did for this adaptation? What are the extra eyelets on the QA plate for?

Did you also modify the engine cowling?

What vintage is your PT? (I didn't see it on your profile...)

All the best,

Peter

JJ- Just had to bring this post 'to the top' for several reasons. (1) A fellow poster brought it to my attention, (2) AgriSupply March flyer came today! SCARIFIER SHANK 17.88'' 4 HOLE - Agri Supply , and (3) I'm looking at a 2002 Jeep hitch setting beside my garage, just lookin' for new duty! Great idea using these rake-tines in such a fashion! With all the grapple 'talk' on the board, and lazer cut steel etc., I thought this deserved another look. I'm wondering if one could further adapt your design to have the ability to swap the 'grapple' portion to a stock bucket, along with your root-rake fabrication. Thanks again for your contributions! ~Scotty

PS, How can this thread be moved over to Build-It-Yourself?

Hello Scotty,

If you mean to keep the grapple and replace the bottom tines with a bucket, sure , that would work. Since then I have collected about 7 more hitches. What are you trying to do, make a mini bucket with grapple?

Did they have a good deal on those shanks.
