ROPS Height ?

Are there any dealers out there that can answer this question?
Why is the ROPS so high for these tractors?
Most of the small tractors easily clear an 8' door, but not Kioti/Bobcat
So it isn't feasible to install a canopy on the tractor without cutting down
the ROPS. How crazy is that.

It's all about the safety.
We are taller than our Asian counterparts.
So they have to make them to fit even the tallest of we folk LOL.
The Kubota L series and up are all at least 85" or higher.
Maybe the B-Series is lower but typically the ROPS on all new machines are pretty high.
I think the over 84" height starts at the machines that can be equipped with 24" rear rims.
Seems to be the case anyway.

The height for a ROPS is determined by US government federal regulations. That means bureaucrats. :thumbsup:

now I know who to blame! My old b7500 easily cleared 84 inch doors. my new L3400 will not. have to fold it down every time. I am a pretty big boy, and the ROPS is way over my head. If it was just a couple of inches less, it would clear.

The ROPS has been designed to hit the top of my barn door exactly 5 times in the last 2 years. It was intentional!

also, when you are using a hoe, you need the ROPS height so you dont hit your head on it if your really tall.

The inside opening has to be 30" above the highest point the seat can be set at.

If you have a seat that raises up for backhoe use, you end up with a ROPS that is very high, when the seat is set in the driving position.

I am glad when I built my barn I installed 10' and 12' high doors in it

Higher means less likely to roll completely over. When you flop your tractor on her side, it acts like another outrigger.

I cut some off my DK40 HST Kioti.
It will now just fit in the garage. The bottom original hole is gone. The original top hole is the bottom and and the new hole made for the top pin receives the "hinge" pin perfectly. The about 6" cut away at the bottom I do not percieve as a safety issue..
