On my 4300 the folding ROPS holes on one side are out of alignment slightly on one side. Anyone else ever have this problem? Any advice how to fix this. I was thinking of drilling out the two holes that don't line up, but I thought someone here may have had this problem or a better idea. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I"ve got the same issue on my 4310 - I've left it alone and instead I used a rubber mallet to "finesse" the pins into the holes. I believe it's getting better as they break in. I considered drilling them as well but I rethought it after I read a few posts on here about annoying rattling from the ROPS pins - believe me mine don't rattle. To get them out I just give the pin another good shot with the mallet. I have to lower mine to get into the garage... do you have the same problem?

I used a die grinder with a cylindrical carbide burr. I only had to remove a tiny bit of metal to get an easy fit. Be aware that the ROPS may have a bit of movement and rattle after this fix.

Best,

The word "Drilling" and "ROPS" in the same thread..... Here we go again /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Yes I have the same problem when going into the garage. I also lower it when I am mowing around trees, it saves me from clipping the branches. It seems that mine is out of alignment by an 1/16 to 1/8 of an inch on only one side. The othe side is fine. I raise and lower it so much that the mallet idea seems to be a pain.

Actually it's easy - I keep the mallet right in the toolbox located on the fender. As I say - I thought of drilling it - but the rattling would put me over the top /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif, that is one of my pet peeves - maybe it wouldn't bother you as much.

I have the same issue, but I apply a little "english" to the ROPS and have no problem at all. I really am pleased with the ROPS not rattling, and so don't mind having to apply a little pressure at the corner to remove the pins...

The pins on my 4310 would not budge and I was not about to beat on them to get them out. They should slide out without force. It wasn't a pressing issue so I waited until it was convienent and I let the dealer fix it. They said there was excessive paint on the pins and they cleaned them off. I think the service manager misunderstood the mechanic because the pins aren't painted. Maybe excessive paint in the holes? Anyway the pins come out fine now and the ROPS doesn't rattle like it would if I had drilled it.

I have a similar, but manageable issue on the 4110 FROPS. Never needed a mallet. I do apply a little "English," and perhaps a little "French" on occasion. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I wish mine was that easy. It looks like it is out of whack by more than just paint. I can see the actual holes being misaligned. Becuase it is on one side only it would seem I think that maybe to bolts shifted in the mounting or something like that. I can get one side to go in pretty easily. The other would take some major english applied. This just happened recently. I just lowered the ROPS for the first ime since last fall and I had to bang one set of the pins out and it was very tight. The other oins came right out. Looks like I need to do some more investigation to see what the problem really is.
