to those who do not know rops stands for roll over protection system. I feel this saved me from serious injury last week. I was mowing my graze pasture and around a couple of 50' tall dead oaks( died from oak wilt). While i was concerned about either bumble bees or african bees nesting in them all else seemed ok. All of a sudden something hit me on the head and almost knocked me out. I saw stars, of course the tractor kept right on mowing. resting on top of the rops and hitting me on the head was an eight inch thick dead branch which had fallen off the tree. This limb cut my head open but might of broken my neck if it had not hit the rops first. Most of the time i mow with the rops down so that I can get under trees easier. Guys if you have them (rops) use them.

I'm glad you came out of the O.K. Thats one of those freek accidents, and I'm glad you had your ROPS up that day.

I agree completely, we put a steel canopy on our MF375 when we were using it a lot in our woods. The ROPS saved my daughter in law from serious injury when it absorbed the major force from a large limb.

I put a hard top on my Yamaha Rhino after a falling limb just missed my head.

I agree absolutely that ROPS is a good thing.I always find it interesting that so many pictures of tractors on here have the ROPS folded down when the person is working their tractor.I don't think they will be much use when needed in this position.Nobody ever plans on having an accident and it could happen when least expected. For your own safety the rollbar should be up when using the tractor.

Thank God you put that ROPS on - Even so how did she not get seriously injured - Did it knock her off the tractor before falling on the seat? Look like it weighs hundreds of pounds!

We have all wondered the same thing. It appears from talking to her that it hit the ROPS first which took the full force and as the tractor kept traveling, it slid down as she was bailing out towards the front and side. But that is just conjecture as I honestly don't see how in the heck she made it out. She was bruised and scratched up, but no broken bones.

I drove up just after it happened before talking to anyone and fully expected the worse, scared the heck out of me.

We have about 150 acres of woods on our main farm and about fifteen or so on another and it is indeed sobering to go through there and see large limbs that have recently fallen. We have also had two really large Oaks blown down this year.

Where this incident occurred, we are going to have someone come in and take two trees down.
