ok.. have had a chance to read up on it.

I see it comes with two choke inserts. one for the .410 to hold a goot pattern, and a rifled one for when shooting .45lc

question.

any harm in leaving the rifled insert in when shooting shot or buckshot aside for perhaps a bit looser pattern?

IE, might be nice to have this out onthe farm, have the first load as a #6 or something like that for a snake or varmint, and have the other 4 rounds as 45lc for close encounters.. like a hog.. er cattle poacher.. :)

so any -damage- to leaving the rifled one in? I would think no as the shot or buck pellets are smaller diameter than the .45lc slug.

While I have no experience with this particular firearm, I have used shot cartridges in a 45 ACP. they work ok up close, but the rifleing tends to make the pattern swirl, and open up pretty bad, so that there is a big hole in the center.

I assume the entire bbl is rifled anyway.. and since the choke / rifled insert is only the last 2" of the 18.5" bbl.. .. well...

Yeah. But those are shot cartridges in a .45, not .410 cartridges. Aren't they a whole lot different?

Just asking. I have no practical experience with either, but am curious about this interesting firearm.

yep.. i'd expect there to be alot more shot in a 410 shotshell than a 45acp shot cartridge.

my only concern is I am going to damage the firearm by shooting the shot with the rifled insert in, vs the choke. I will assume you can't shoot the .45lc witht he shotgun choke it :).. but if ok to do it the other way.. I could carry a snake load plus some 45lc slugs.

I think it would be ok to shoot it that way.. . just not as good of a pattern as with the choke tube in. Yes a 410 even a 2 1/2 inch has a lot more shot than a 45 ACP "snake load" (I seem to remember they were made by CCI). Give it a try, and let us know!
