Hiya,

Anyone out there use the rotary broom on a 3x20 series for light snow removal? I have the 59" blower but I was wondering how the broom works on small snowfalls in the 1 to 3 inch range where the blower is way overkill and the bucket is still a PITA.

Also curious how the front blade works for light to medium snowfalls?

I have a broom on my X485 and find it really doesn't do a great job on "small" snowfalls, unless it is down around 0 deg F. The wetter snow follows the broom around and drops some of it behind. However I do keep it on the X485 for the occasional cleanup normally after I've scraped off most of the snow with the 7' Western blade on my JD 4300.
I would go stir crazy waiting to get the snow off with a blower (but would be nice the one or two times a winter that the snow is real deep). That may just be me too. :)
I sometimes get an early or late snow that I use the bucket to remove, but that is agony as well. Gets the job done eventually.
For light to medium and all the way up to 20+ inches, I find the blade to be quick and efficient. Then, I have room to push the snow away and also have a wing plow to put on for pushing the snow back when the pushed-up snow gets too deep.
Bottom line, I wouldn't recommend the extra expense of a broom.

Plus, the broom requires more cleanup of packed in snow. Maybe like cleanup of a snowblower. The blade requires very little cleanup and is not hampered by some remaining snow pack.

We have the blade for light snow. I don't enjoy having to use it in comparison to the blower, but it's the best thing going since you can add a blade for 500-700, and a broom will run over 3000 as I recall. Of course this is for the 2000 series machines.

I think I'd pull out my backpack blower for a storm so cold and light as to be able to use a broom.

I run a broom on my 2520 and love it. I will never go with out a broom now that I have one.

The piictures are of my wife I was sick that day of the pictures, but it helped me convince her I need a cab tractor, which she agreed so I have a new JD 3520 cab on the way next week, the broom will fit the new tractor with new mounts. I live on a state highway so the snowplow whips by and spreads a crap load of gravel in the yard which the broom comes in handy to throw them back
