Rotary cutter / shredder for Kubota L3200

I have a Kubota L3200 and looking into getting a rotary cutter. I live in central Texas and this will not be used on a rock free field of grass, rather mowing down overgrown weeds.

I have never had a rotary cutter before. What happens if you do hit rock, is there a good chance the cutter and / or tracor will be damaged?

Are there cutters you would recommend? I assume the Land Pride RCR1260 would not be a good fit for this environment, do you think the Land Pride RCR1860 would be sufficient? I appreciate any information, thanks.

I think most will do a good job. I use a Rhino 160 since that is what the local dealer was selling. Rhino also makes a 260, which is a heavier unit. Because the blades pivot, generally you end up just beating up the cutting edge and need to resharpen and replace blades more often. My main recommendation would be the use of a driveline clutch instead of shear pins. Several mowers come with them as standard equipment. If not they can be purchased separately at dealers or Tractor Supply.

Use a PTO clutch IF you service it every year.Not hard to do about fifteen minutes after the first time.I have a clutch on my tiller,my BH has shear pins and have only broke three in 700 hrs of cutting.I have lots of rocks.

I have the RCR1860 on my L3200 and it's perfect for smooth cuts or heavy brush cutting. Also it came with the "slip clutch" so I'm not constantly worrying about replacing those shear pins.It's a well built rotary cutter and fits well on my L3200.
