Tiller Rotary tillers

I use a Befco 50" on the back of my BX23...Also own a Troy Bilt 18" walk behind that makes a very nice complement to my bigger tiller...I have a turn around (island like) area in front of my house with a slight slope of about 2' and the Troy Bilt tills it just right after a couple of over lapping passes...I've found the smaller tiller to be very helpful with other small jobs too...It's a second (gas) engine yes, and after quite a few years, has not been any problem at all.

I don't want to just sling it out again--but the King Kutter II is worth looking at...

Build quality is a very important aspect, and so is brand support... but what price really should be considered when you are looking at your intended usage: I mean are you the guy who is gonna run it 250 hours through unknown territory every spring, or for 5 hours in the backyard? The latter should run forever if maintained pretty much regardless of the build quality.

My friend (that sold me the tractor) initially talked me out of a tiller because of the amount I (figured I would) use it... I could personally hire the job out for 20-30 yrs for the price of an expensive one, or 10-15 for a more reasonable one.

I did end up getting a KKII for a JD 3520 which is in the same range PTO as yours for a reasonable price and till a couple gardens in addition to mine, so it had a value to me there as well. Knocks the payback to 3-5 yrs. A real solid tiller for a pretty good price.
