The Home Depot in Wareham,Mass is selling Rotella Diesel gallons @ $6.97 each. I called the New Hampshire stores and they don't sell any motor oils. What's with that?

I looked all over the place for Rotella Diesel 10-W30 or 10-W40 CC or CD as the manual called for. Could'n find it so I sent an e-mail to Kioti asking if it was OK to use 15-W40 which I could find. Back came a response to use what the manual calls for, which of course is 10-W30 or 10-W40 CC or CD. I finally found it at Maine Lub but had to buy a case (6 gal) @ 62.00. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif
Hope you have better luck.
Al, some of these companies are behind in updating their manuals. CC and CD ratings are obsolete ratings, and 15W-40 is, to the best of my knowledge, the most popular "weight" of oil to use in a diesel.
Dave,
Just run a good diesel rated engine oil and you will be fine. Forget the manual and their Obsolete CC/CD ratings.
Like Bird said, 15w-40 is probably the most commonly used.
I run Rottella T sythetic 5w-40 in my DK 35.
If you experience really cold winters, and use your tractor for removing snow, you may wish to go with 5W-30 for winter. 15W40 would not have the proper cold vixcosity from all I've read. I don't live in that cold weather, but I would change out my 15W to 5W if I did!
