So let's say that I've got Rotella synthetic in my tractor now and come time to change the oil again and I can't find Rotella synthetic around, is it ok to put something like Mobil 1 synthetic in? And TresCrows I have a L-4310, is that tractor conciderd a light tractor, like a B series? The whole reason I changed over to syn. oil is for the cold Maine winter starts, that made it worth it to me.

As usual, you are always a gentleman. A redneck, but a gentleman.

Come to think of it, my wife says I am a redneck too??

Sun don't shine long enough in Maine to get a red neck and I own a pair of shoe also. So put that in your corncob pipe and smoke it. lol.

What does the sun look like Daddy????

Looks like the weather is changing into a winter pattern. Still and Clear.....(it's STILL snowing and CLEAR up to here).

Sounds like a regular price, certainly not a bargain. I just changed my oil to John Deere 0-40 Plus-50 Synthetic for the cold weather. Cost from a dealer was $6.13 a quart. Cheaper than Amsoil and JD gives a "no(engine) hour limit" performance warranty. So far the Yanmar four in my Century still starts like a car engine( a few seconds of manifold heat and it's running). See if the same holds true in February /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

BBEll, I ain't no expert on where a diesel is no longer a light diesel. I should think you could find the Shell Rotella Synthetic 5W-40 easy enough year around. The only place I have gotten Mobil Delvac, their synthetic heavy diesel oil, is from the distributer. Your little tractor only has a 130ish cubic inch engine. It hardly works like say an offshore diesel crew boat or an over road rig--which are the kinds of things I have seen using Delvac. I do not believe it would hurt a thing to use the Rotella 15W-40 in warm season and synthetic Rotella 5W-40 in the winter season.
And, yes, I am a redneck. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gifJ

Matter of fact, I just switched my generator (Generac/7500 watts/14 hp gas) to Amsoil.....it sounds quieter than before with regular oil.

Take care.... )</font>

I noticed the same thing when I switched my BX2200 from Kubota 30 weight dino oil to Rotella T synthetic. The engine runs MUCH quieter now. Thought I was (not) hearing things at first.

Nice to see a few Maine-e-acs in here. I live in the back roads of Litchfield.
