Not sure why people are referring to Shell Rotella HD as "cheap."
Folks have no complaints on running cheaper stuff, stuff like Travelers.
I went with Rotella after cross-checking it (a major on-line retailer crossed the Mobile 424 to this). My dealer replaced "Kioti" hydraulic fluid with "Mahindra." Hard-pressed to think that these two fluids are better than Shell.
Compared to the Chevron THC Synthetic All Weather fluid I usually use, it's cheap. Chevron is even more expensive than Kubota SUDT. How about 130 bucks a pail and I use 6 pails to do 2 tractors. Last change I did one with Chevron and one with the Rotella. Comparing side by side so far I see no difference. The real test will come this winter when it's zero out and I need to plow snow. That is where the Chevron really shines. Short warm up and excellent cold flowability. Will see how the Rotella stacks up then.
If it's as good as, I may switch entirely to it next transmission drain.
