Not to jump on you, just pointing out that the phrase "I was told" is used so often and represents nothing more than rote memory--the ability to remember what someone else told you, with without understanding why. To ask the question here will only result in more of the same--someone else will either tell you the same thing, in which case you will have two data points. Or someone else will tell you something different, in which case you will be back to square one if relying on the advice of others. Independent research is always better than "I was told..."
To give you another "someone told me", I will tell you that there is no way of accurately predicting how many hours an engine will last, unless someone does something stupid, such as leave out the oil. Then it's easy to predict lifespan. Statisticians put food on the table by creating things like Weibull curves in which they predict, with limited accuracy, the useable life of various things. Most involve long-term, test-to-failure experiments which are expensive and limited in usefulness given the variation of use that tractors will see.
If you use Rotella, either conventional or synthetic, and change it per the book, it is almost certain that the tractor (at least the engine) will have no oil-related problems.
