Rotella Synthetic Smell - Different

While doing the loader adjustments and such - and on a fresh oil change switch over to the the Rotella Synthetic I could not miss the fact that there is a distict smell difference. In fact I then smelled the blue, 1 gal. empty bottle and it sure smells different than the non-synthetic motor oil that I am used to. Please let me know if 1) the smell is normal 2) that you can or can not smell a difference in muffler exhaust smell 3) whether or not you have smelled it gassing from the breather

It's probably normal but even my son noticed the difference in smell after the oil change.

Update - I am confident that all oil is cleaned from everything after the change. I still smell the Rotella Synthetic smell. Gents - I just don't know because I have not used it before. So wondering if others have noticed it as well.

You are really taking this tractor thing seriously. Been around tractors for 35 years, & I've never ever even thought of sniffing a breather.......

Perhaps you could find other, healthier hobbies for a more balanced life?????

Actually, it's a good way to check for coolant in the crankcase. You just don't want to get your nose directly in line with the vent, there are more comfortable ways to pick boogers than steam cleaning! /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif That's not a joke, I did it once and peeled the skin off my nose.
