we use it in the 7.3 F250,and the diesel tractors,I like it and think it is a quality oil. Seems to be a preference thing but Rotella has a good reputation and been around a while. They also have an informative we site !! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
I'm going to use it for my next oil change. My John Deere dealer is not close to me, so it's a hassle to get oil. I'm not real impressed with the John Deere oil either, it is dark in color when you pour it in from the jug, so your oil looks dirty right from the get-go. I'm switching over to Wix filters too. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Rotella T is what I have used in my 30 hp 790 since the initial oil change 2 years ago. Seems to work just fine and my dealer does not object (other than the fact I'm not buying it from him /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif)
Been using Rotella T in my diesels for years. The synthetic goes in the VW TDI for the longer change intervals.
Oddly, the 4110 owner's manual calls for a spark ignition (SG) rated oil. Since the dino Rotella T meets the SJ spec in addition to CG I use it in the 4110. But I do wonder why Deere specs an SG oil for a diesel engine. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif
About them Wix brand oil filters. When I was by the parts desk I noticed a cut away JD oil filter next to a cut away Wix. The presentation was made by JD themselves and it showed numerous JD filter anvantages but I don't remember what it said. This is just an observation of mine and no way am I trying to start oil filter wars I just happened to notice the Wix name from this discussion.
