I sell topsoil and want to break up clumps in huge pile with 3 point hitch roto tiller attachment. Which roter tiller would work best regular or reverse tine? The soil has already been screened it just gets clumpy sitting over time.

I want to back into the pile and loosen up the clumpy soil then pick it up with loader and load truck.

thanks any advise

I don't think it matters much for your application. Forward jumps over rocks & buried stuff better. Reverse buries plants better.

I would watch CL etc. and get the one I could get the best deal on. Like Fallon said. Won't matter much.

I did some landscaping for a couple houses in a fancy new subdivision that had a big pile of top soil heaped in a pile for use on the houses. I dug out of the pile and spread the lumpy dirt out beside it and rototilled with a standard forward tine tiller. Other people were just hauling the dirt in and it was really hard to work with. I had a few people ask if I could till some of the dirt for them and thankfully nobody was robbing from my stockpile of rototilled dirt/topsoil. From what I've read, reverse tine buries the larger lumps and forward tine chews everything pretty even to the depth you're tilling. I think a standard forward tine would work the best for you. Get a tiller with 6 tines per flange.

if ypu have a spin spreader or a drop spreader please buy a bag of gypsum and spread it
over the pile B4 you till it to dissolve the clay in it.

I'm a reverse cut fan myself.

I have used both and quickly got tired of the reverse rotation throwing rocks and dirt into the tractor and me.

My Ansung Terra Force unit is built well and works like a dream for me.
