Tiller roto tillers

I read that other tread. It seemed like the poster didn't have the CCM tiller set up properly. He needed to reduce the length of the top link. The way he was using it, it would try to dig upwards, not downwards. A tiller needs to be parellel to the ground when at it's maximum tilling depth.

. . .and I would love to hear of some positive resolution other than a thread deletion (which raises more questions than it might be needed)...

Start throwing knives at a TBN sponsor without any strong evidence to support your claim and you never know what may happen to your thread.

I have been looking at and dreaming about tillers for many months now. If I had the money in my pocket I'd buy a CCM SR-210 tomorrow without concern. So many satisfied users can't be wrong. Only heard one person dissastisfied. You'd be hard pressed to find a gear-driven tiller for their price! And for the record, I have no vested interest in CCM.:p

I really think Garabo had his 3PH set up incorrectly and/or his drivelines were still too long to allow for a full range of 3PH motion. I took some pictures related to my CCM
M-160 (58") tiller. Picture# 1- I easily tilled ~8" in depth.
Picture # 2- shows the lower skid plate and the gearbox cover oil drainplug. Jay

I have to say a tiller is an easy setup - pretty straight forward, with not much mystery in its operation. If this was about the slip clutch I would understand the confusion - again the guy didnt strike me as an inexperienced user. Just the opposite

Now this is the first plausible reason for it not lowering that i have seen - may not be the reason, but it could prevent the tiller from lowering because the PTO shaft is too long.

As for being parallel and such, I find my tiller dig's to china regardless of angle from 3pt center link.

I have found on my CCM that it'll dig more aggressively if I shorten the toplink and cant the tiller forward/down slightly.

There had to be a good reason, but I don't think it was a design issue, as he stated. He let his frustration get in the way of reason, I've been there. His approach to the problem here wasn't the best. We have no way of knowing the whole story about his discussions with the dealer, which is why I agree with pulling the thread. Too bad he didn't have someone close by to try the tiller on their tractor. Different set up, as well as a different set of eyes on it, might cure the problem.
