Hi all,

I have been browsing this site for some time, and found all of your conversations very helpful in purchasing a tractor. I ended up with a 4944 in December. I finally signed up to get in to some of the discussions on here.

My question for today is, has anyone heard about Montana discontinueing their rototillers? I bought one in December and it finally got shipped to me at the end of March. My uncle who has a 3840 tried to buy one last week, and his dealer told him they don't make the tiller anymore? Has anyone else heard about this?

Talk to your dealer about it. I just unloaded one from a delivery truck yesterday.

Did Montana actually make the tiller or did someone make it for them?? If someone else made it for them I would be more worried if they are still in business. It just may be that Montana has not had enough sales to keep in the line up?

No, the tiller is not made by Montana. Most implements are not made by tractor companies. There are a few that build their own loaders but most all brands, even JD, buy their implements from implement companies. They buy in huge volumes and can have them color matched to the tractor.

I would suggest that you call Montana direct and ask them about the availability of a tiller. Keep in mind that a dealer that doesn't have a tiller on hand or one near by can not just quickly order you one unless you understand that there will be some freight on it. LTL shipments are not cheap these days!

Montanaman I thought you were a dealer. I am not sure if you can call montana direct about a tiller. I know that when I have gone into their office with questions I was told they do not deal with the public directly. I was given a dealer number and told to call them. The only direct interaction I have had with them was they will warranty only repairs in springdale. I bought a quick attach adapter for my older 4940c and they had me go through the nearest dealer to springdale to pay for it.

Yes, I am a dealer and just got a 66" tiller in this week. That's why I am questioning this question. I don't understand why anyone thinks the tillers are not available?

You are right, it is best for folks to go through their dealer with questions.

I sell many different implement lines and this is the first tiller I have bought from Montana. Had a customer looking to put as little as he could down and this tiller will finance at the same low rate as the tractor, so for him, this was the tiller to buy!

I looked on the Montana website, and they still have the rototiller listed, however, the dealer told my uncle that they don't make them anymore, so he bought another brand. If he would have been willing to get one in he probably would have bought the Montana brand.
