I am looking into tractors and the more i look the more confusing it seems. Seems like there are only a few tractors but dozens of different names for these tractors. Are Jinma, farm pro etc all the same? I was looking at the jinma/farmpro and the kioti and it seems that they do not have a creeper gears for rototilling. Do you know what tractors are best for Agriculture work? Thanks

I think it would be more helpful if you could fill out your profile and also give us a much more detailed description of what you want to do with the tractor.

Regarding your question, Jinma & Farm Pro are the same tractor, different names. It is also sold under several other names.

Regarding rototilling, most people on the board will strongly suggest that for proper rototilling you want to use a tractor with a hydrostatic transmission or a tractor with a creeper gear. Unfortunately, many of the new smaller tractors don't even offer creeper gears. Tilling is best done as very slow speeds, 0.5 miles per hour would be typical, certainly you want to stay well below 1mph. Many newer small gear tractors won't go below 0.75 or 0.8 mph and still maintain 540 rpm on the PTO.

Not sure what else you are looking for in terms of agricultural use. Most of the smaller tractors here in the US are not really designed as true agricultural tractors. Jinma only sells smaller sized tractors, most are typically in the 20 to 30hp range. What size tiller are you looking to run? What size tractor are you looking for?

I personally think that hydro is the best transmission for tilling. In fact just this last week-end I was tilling some new ground and I had to literaly stop at times. With a gear transmission most will also stop the tiller when you engage the clutch to stop. I also even broke the chain on my drive as my slip clutch didn't release quick enough. But there is many that have said their lowest gear is low enough to run a tiller and I hope they chim in here to give some ideas of the brand they use for tractors.

The Kioti DK35 & DK40 standard transmission offers 8F/8R. There is an optional 16F/16R transmission for the DK35 and DK40.

The jinmas/farm pros have a creeper gear as long as you don't get the shuttle shift.

I currently use a Ford NAA. I have used nothing but fords since i was a child but i would like to have a diesel and backhoe but they are hard to find i good condition. I also want more PTO HP. Not sure what my pto HP is for my NAA but the engine HP is rated at 31. As for a tiller i would like to use one that is under 72", Probably 54". I also cut lots of grass, do constuction projects, plow a little, and drag fallen oaks. I dont care to have a belly mower ever and already have a good woods mower, rake, and boxblade so i would want to be able to still use all those. Like you said i want a SLOW gear or a hydrostatic. Any recomendations? Price IS an consideration. Thanks

What do you all think of the kioti ck30hst? Would it be underpowered for me after useing a NAA? The CK30 seems like it would be perfect with the HST but i would like a step up in power after the NAA but maybe between the 4WD and the diesel it would not be. BTW i am working about 11 acres 2 tilling.

I think it goes back to the old gas versus diesel question. I think the CK30 will show a noticeable difference. I think you would be impressed in the difference. Get your Kioti dealer to let you use one for a day. If your willing to spend the money on it and your ready to buy tell your dealer that if you like it you won't be bringing it back. I think you will be surprised what the newer ones with the 4 wheel will do over the older gas two wheel drive.

I'm pretty much in agreement with Steve on the CK30 being something that will impress you.

I love to work with old tractors, and have a working familiarity with several of the the old Fords, Olivers, Masseys and ACs from the 50's and early 60's. I wouldn't consider my self an expert, but I've used several and restored some too.

The CK30 will easily outwork your NAA. HP will likely be higher on the CK30, which is a 30hp tractor largely because many of the old gas farm tractors are no longer producing the same HP that they were rated for when they were made due to compression losses, and a host of other factors. If the NAA was still giving you something in the upper 20's range you'd be under the CK's HP by several HP. I suspect, without bothering to look up a torque curve on the NAA's engine, that the CK is going to offer more torque than the NAA all across the range. The NAA will have more weight than the CK so you might notice the CK pulling harder with the box blade, but you might not. And the CK will have 4wd working in its favor so while it won't have the rear wheel traction of the NAA, it will likely have similar overall traction. Unless that box blade is 6' or wider, you should not have any trouble with it, and you might find a 6' box blade will pull OK? For the other implements you mentioned, the CK will easily handle everything you already own.

Is there a reason why the larger tractors do not seem to have Hydrostatic drive?
