Good day, I have a choice for the same money Frontier/John Deer 5 foot rough cut mower or a Farm King Rough cut mower, the JD has front and rear chain guards, any recomendations, they are close to the same weight so any pros or cons

laurencen,

What price did they quote you on the Frontier? I am in the market for a rotary cutter. I can't get anyone to call me back who is advertising a used one (I thought I left polite messages). I am looking at the KK 60", Farm Line 60", and saw the new Frontier 60" on the Deere site today.

I would like to get the Frontier if it is reasonably priced. I don't need one that is indestructible. I will use it for mowing food plots and an odd acreage for someone (I am trying to do some light contract tractor/mowing/food plot work for extra cash) so I don't need a superman level mower.

I am getting prices like KK-$649, Farm Line-$680, and Bush Hog-$985 here around St Louis. What are you seeing in your area for the Frontier?

Jeff, probably not your message. Here farm implements often sells real quick and if sold they don't return your call sometimes as they get flooded. Have you tried running I want to buy ad? Also check and see if your state dept of Agriculture has a for sale site or paper. I like those the best.

for close money, I'd go with the one with chains!

Hi, in answer to your question re cost, Frontier was $1850 cdn with chains, the Farm King $1450 cdn without chains, to add its $250.00, when I went to pickup the Frontier was told the last one was sold and the 2009 price is $1850 without chains, so the choice was simple

Now guess what, we have had little to no rain for months in the praries and today its pouring down, have to wait and see how well it cuts when it dries up

My mistake laurencen. I thought you wrote Farm Line but it was Farm King. The Farm Line brand is probably a lot lighter duty than your Farm King. I can't find Farm Line on the web but I did find the Farm King. It looks like the FK is about 601lbs for a 5' and the FM is about 540lbs.

I'm checking with a dealer in the midwest on a price but it is probably near the Frontier I found for $1400 with chains (Mexico, MO).
