Hi,
I have a 2001 TC25D. Lately I have been noticing that above about 2000 rpm, I start to feel a vibration and rough running. The tractor only has about 275 hours on it. I have checked all the fluids, cleaned the fuel filter, and replaced the outer air filter. Maybe I'm being overly critical, but at about the time I have noticed the vibration, the tractor doesn't seem to go as fast. One more thing, if I peg the throttle at 2800 rpm, I notice that I get very quick puffs of smoke every 5 seconds or so out of the muffler.

Does anyone have similar issues?

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Kris

My first thought would be a little bit of moisture/water in the fuel, but otherwise, I wouldn't know.

Has anyone ever had internal bearing problems in their engine?

What about the pump and hydraulic motor? Any history of problems here?

One more thing. I'm not thrilled about connecting the power attachments (FEL, BH) right into the main hydraulic system. First of all, the quick disconnects are an entry point for dirt and contaminants. Second of all, anything in the cylinders and/or valves in the attachments will end up in the tractor, and thirdly if you were to be unfortunate enough to rupture a line or snag it on something, you would bleed your tractor to death. If this happens in the middle of the woods, well...... I am wondering if my pump or hyd motor is acting up causing my vibrations.

Looking at what you are describing it seems to be pointing to fuel issues. How old is your fuel? If the tractor has less than 300 hours on it as a 2001 model, the fuel could be pretty old. I suggest that you replace the fuel and add an approved injector cleaner. If that does not work, the injectors may need cleaning.

Use caution when your tractor sits around for long periods and service the fuel filter sediment bowl often. If too much water gets into your fuel system, it can ruin your fuel pump. That can easily be over $1000. Good luck.

I'm not real smart on this but if it's not bad fuel/filter, i'd look toward an injector problem.

1, your tractor has a hyd filter...
2, buy new implements.. or bleed your old ones to make sure they have good oil in them before you connect your QD's up.
3, spend about 10$ and buy a set of male and female caps for your qd's. Tsc has them in colors to match the big 4 tractors ( red, green, blue, orange ). both sides.. for the male and female end.

I also keep a can of wd40 with my tractor.. I use it to blow the connections clean.. both sides before Imate them.. even when using the caps.

Can't find the caps.. then slip a ziplock baggie over the end and rubberband it there.

It's way better to actually address the problem.. than obsess about it.

You got lotsa options..

I've even seen guys make up a short hose with 2 female ends on it.. and when he takes his batwing of fhis tractor ( 2 circuits.. wing and tail lift ). he plugs both male ends of the batwing in to the female coupler.. keeps em clean that way.

Also.. many tractor female ends are warded either with caps.. or a split membrane. Again.. if yours aren't.. get an aftermarket female cap..

I agree with JonL and CJ4 that you have fuel or injector problems. I'm pretty sure this has nothing to do with "internal bearings". Also, I see no reason to suspect problems with your hydraulics (although it is good to keep those quick-disconnects clean as Soundguy suggests).

Do you have a water separator as well as a fuel filter? Did you check both? You might also check for dried/cracked vacuum tubing. Look for fuel feed problems with the engine rather than drive problems (such as hydraulics and implements).

I agree with the others on the injectors... try some injector cleaner and some fresh fuel and let her work hard. If you still have troulble I'd be pulling the injectors off and get them tested.
