I use Honcho, a glyphosate - Roundup generic herbicide which contains a surfacent which foams up greatly when refilling the tank with a little left from the previous tankfull ... to the extent that I get half a 15 gal tank of H2O and half a tank of foam. I suspect that there's a more professional solution but I happen to have a little bottle of anti-foaming stuff I use to keep a perfectly good boiler of beer from boiling over that works great. 2 drops into the hose stream while filling the spray tank kills the foam, PDQ. I have no idea what the chemical is but it didn't blow up in my face when mixes in the tank; seemed to have no adverse affect on surfacent qualities when sprayed; and the wilting/killing action seemed to be the same as to that prior to using the additive.
Anti-foam
Cheers!

That's a positively intoxicating idea for getting rid of the foam. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I wonder if the anti-foam that they use in hot-tubs & spas might also do the same?

That's a great idea. I didn't know there was a prob with hot tub foam but if it works, it's much easier to obtain. ... I do enjoy the thinkin' that goes on on this site.
Cheers!

Here's another idea, try throwing a tablet of simethicone (a OTC chewable anti gas medication available at any drug store) in the tank. I have no idea if it would work or not, but I do know that it disolves gas in the human stomach! Why not a sprayer?

I'll try the hot tub anti-foam today. I had the problem yesterday, and knew that they had an anti-foam at the farm supply, but didn't think about the stuff I use in the hot tub --- it is probably the same stuff.

Yep, the hot tub anti-foam worked like a charm. One good squirt and the foam laid down in under a minute -- with the pump running wide open!

"it dissolves gas in the human stomach! "

According to my wife, not enough. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Another trick that I learned when running a printing press years ago, when the ink would foam, and we had run out of the anti-foam, we would pour about a half cup of milk in the tank and presto the foam is gone, and we got a break to go to the breakroom to get a carton out of the vending machine. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Interesting ... wonder if it's an acid thing. Thanks for the tip. It's times like these that I wish I hadn't slept thru chem class /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
