About a week ago I sprayed some weeds & a bunch of Monkeygrass that the wife wanted rid of (after I broke my back going out to get it, transplant it and over the years, split it to propagate it :()

My presumption is because it might creep underground, you really want to kill it instead of just ripping it up. (perhaps that's wrong....I just know that I don't WANT to fool with ripping it up....again)

Sooooooooooo, I doused it pretty well with some Roundup.

Today about a week later, some of the grass/weeds growing in the driveway are turning a little yellow. The Monkeygrass, virtually all that I can see.... is laughing at me?

Will Roundup kill Monkeygrass and if so, do I need a stronger than normal solution?

It will kill the monkey grass. It is best to do it when actively growing, like this time of year.

First off a few things to stack the deck in your favor. Use a stronger than 2.5% solution (which is what i purposely sray overtop of mine to kill the weeds out of it but not kill it, which is 3oz/gallon of 41% glyphosate concentrate), spray on a day that is in the 70s at least and make sure it had some water before. You prolly want to use something like 5% but for legallity you need to stay at the labled rate if you care to follow epa laws.

Richard the straight 41% takes 7+ days to make stuff start looking dead and 2-4 weeks to kill to root level.

8 days ago I sprayed the church gravel parking lot and today the green stuff is starting to look dead. It rained 20 hours after I applied it at 32 oz. there 10 gallons of water. In the last 24 hours some plants that I though were not going to die are starting to look like they will die.

The fact it works at root level will be good for your moneygrass. It just takes 2-4 weeks to work at that level. The fact that it is not a burn down type chemical gives it time to get the chemical to the roots. After the 20 hour period it rained non stop for 6 days.

I plan to respray after 30 days if new stuff sprouts.

OK, thanks.

I'll give this more time to work before hitting the panic button. I'll spray again if/as needed. I'm expecting new sprouts so was planning on spraying again anyway.

I did up the dosage a little bit. When mixing, I always round up a tad. Perhaps not enough to matter but I figure I'd always rather have the correct amount plus a tad rather than the correct amount minus a tad.

Yesterday was day nine since I sprayed at church and the results are just started to be really easy to see at a glance. It has rained 7 of those 9 days (did get 20 hours before the first rain however) and it kept right on working.

Coming back to the house I was just spraying up the side ditch to empy the tank (mounted on the golf cart) and yesterday it is clear where I ran out. :D

I too round up on usage. I used a quart per 10 gallons or 3.2 oz per gallon instead of 3 oz of 41% of generic Round-Up. To kill brush the mix has to be increased but I do not have that in front of me.

At $20 a gallon this means it cost me $.50 per gallon of mix but that will spray a heck of lot. I do find more to spray with the 12v tank sprayer than with the two gallon hand tank. :laughing:

I sprayed some weeds with "Roundup" a month or so ago. For the taller weeds it took at least two weeks for them to brown out an die. The short weeds, same variety, still took a good week to turn brown.

The taller weeds were green. Then one day they just were brown. FINALLY.

I have to go back and spray again for the Nut grass that spreads underground. That stuff is a pain.
