So I fired up my new to me, top dresser and handfulls of Fiber Glass Strands fell out the back. First I thought the worst, that it might be from the belt, but did some Googling.

Apparently there is a process of adding fiber strands to soil to increase it's tensile properties called "ROVING".

This Top Dresser was used by a Race Track.

You can increase angles on slopes and can play on grass, just after it rains.

Would that be considered polution? Curious on the cost.

Who Knew? So the next time you are talking to a landscape professional, ask him if Roving, might be a solution, and wait for the perplexed look on their face.

I first heard of Roving back in the mid/late 70's.
It was used to control erosion in ditches. It was fiberglass strands, applied pneumatically and then sprayed with MC asphalt.
Worked fairly well.

I feel compelled to drag out the shop VAC and suck that stuff off my lawn. At the same time, I am considering that approach for a new high vehicle traffic grass area.

Fiber glass strands. Will you ever go bare foot in that portion of your lawn again?? Possibly for vehicle traffic areas but not where people will want to play.

Glass fiber, the same as used in fiberglass. They apparently use them on sports turf, so I don't see the injury aspect.

Sounds like a theme song to 60s western series.

I have a customer that builds fiberglass boats. I might just ask them what fiber strands cost in bulk.
