RPM guage problems on TC 40

My TC 40A has 100 hours on it. The RPM guage has stopped working all of the time. I used the tractor last weekend and I noticed tha the RPM guage was not working at first. After running the tractor for about 15 minutes it started working again. Today, I started the tractor and once again the RPM guage didn't work at first. Once again, after about 10 minutes of use, the RPM guage started working.

Anyone know what's causing this. I don't want to have to take it back to the dealer over the RPM guage.

I am no automotive electrician, but I would check for condensation at the sending unit's connectors as well as the connections themselves. I have used that electronic drying/cleaning spray at times. Hope this helps- Jay

If you begin to remove and clean all electrical connections; make sure you use a dielectric grease on them before reassembly, to make sure they remain clean for a long time. Factory should have done this but it must be not cost effective for them.

What happens when you tap/rap on the tachometer?

If mine sits for more than a couple days, sometimes I have to give it a smack before it comes up. Needle sticks.

Mine does exactly the same thing. The fuel gage also sticks. Just a thump on the face of the instrument panel brings everything to life.
