RPM speed of hydraulic pump on a JM 354

Does anyone know what speed the hrdro pump spins at when mounted on the back of the tractor above the PTO to operate a three point hitch Backhoe?

I didn't know that the 304/354 had a similiar access plate, like the 200 series. I imagine it is the same speed as the pto shaft. Remove the cover and when the engine is only idling should be able to tell if it matches pto shaft. A white dot of paint might help to see it spin. The pto spins at 540rpm when you hit the green band on the tach.

kbone: I don't know about the pto pump speed vs pto speed, for sure either. BUT I do know my 284 with back hoe runs best at about 1400 rpms on engine speed where as rated PTO speed is some where like 2200 rpms. NOW that being said it seems to be a fun thing but for actual 100% usefullness I'm not 100% convinced it is a worth wile expendurature (the back hoe that is) I've used mine a good bit putting in elec power to the barn , digging rocks, & holes transplanting trees ect. it does work but only reasonably well to about 4 feet and slow going to 5 feet, attaing depth after that is not really reasonable. I have the JW03 hoe

anyhow hope you can find o ut for sure if it matches PTO speed or not.

The pump would run at engine rpm. this drive is direct from the PTO disk on the clutch and runs to the rear of the tractor the same shaft turns a pair of gears, the driven gears below turn the PTO shaft. when you select a PTO speed, it determines which set of gears is connected to give you reduction to 540 or 720 rpm when the engine is at the rpm indicated by the green mark on the tach indicating "pto speed".
