RTV 500 with camoplast 4s utv tracks, Bobcat 773 with filled tires and steel tracks
As it appears that the engineers at kubota don't tow things to know the receiver they designed won't fit any hitch without being cut I decided to make my own. I didn't want to cut any of my hitches as I figure it would make them weaker for use on my truck if shortened so I bought some 2x2 steel and made my own. With such a short piece in the receiver I figured it wouldn't hold much weight either. And my tracks stick out so much in the back that I wanted to get the ball farther back so I made a custom three point set up. Tried to make the fit and finish look as close to factory as possible. :D

Looks great. I have a RTV1100 and have been thinking about tracks but my neighbor has a set and his is so slow with them he says he can walk faster. Is this true?

I just posted about this on a thread I started.

If you don't have the tools to cut one, the hitch ordered through Kubota fits without being cut. :)

Baretta96man, very nice craftsmanship. Since you are a construction expert, there is probably no need to share this information; however, others may benefit.

The extension of the receiver hitch causes a fairly extensive moment arm (engineering term) that great reduces the carrying capacity of the hitch. The additional gussets you added certainly help out with this matter. A moment arm is the load applied at some distance from the pivot or fixted point. If the hitch was designed for 100 lbs and it was extended say 2 feet, the new capacity of the hitch is now 50 lbs, except in your case since you added the gussets.

Once again, great job!

Partly. RTV's are slow anyway and the tracks reduce it more. I'd say one could jog along side it. Hills are the RTV's nemesis as you know. I only use them for mud and snow. The tracks are unstoppable in both. In the summer I put the tires back on.

Thanks Prehm. My expertise is construction but I love to play with metal for fun. I have no education in engineering so that was insightful. I never was a fan of the short receiver tube from a loading point of view. Then when I added tracks the need to extend an already weaker set up prompted me to tie the "moment arm" back to the upper frame for a nice durable hitch. I don't know what my load capacity is with this but I figure it will hold fine what it could do when back closer to the frame.

So do you have a part number for the hitch or how many inches to cut off?
My rtv500 is at a different location 75 miles from home.
I know this is an old thread but you just can稚 find that information.

I have tracks for my RTV1100. It drops top speed from 25 to 15. As noted, it appears unstoppable with the tracks thus far.
