Looking at utility vehicles and the 0% on these makes it tempting. How do they do in the mud on a farm?

Mine does very well in the mud:thumbsup: They aren't going to keep up with a quad in the soup but in regular mud or stream crossing they do very well, when you get into the really soupy stuff they are too heavy and tend to sink at that point you want a winch just in case.

very low ground clearance. will get stuck in the smallest of mudholes...

Not true...Very deep soupy mud maybe. General mudding is no problem at all. Mine surprised many quad riders as to where it would go.

Au contraire my friend...
You slide off in a tire rut where others have been and you will be searching for assistance. The weight and ground clearance on these things makes mudding adventuresome at best.
Once this big frame hits the high spot and these tiny tires cant get any traction, you are toast. Ive been stuck 3 times and that's with avoiding really muddy spots because i dont have a winch, yet..

This thing needs some about 1-2 inches MINIMUM of ground clearance...

I don't disagree that som more clearance would be nice, but I never had mine stuck. Just need to watch where you put the machine. I rode on top of ruts to avoid this. I would go throgh creeks and mud with no problem. If it's too deep, you can also stick a quad in them.

This isn't a sport machine anyway, needs to be treated as such.

Mine went more places than I ever expected it to go.

My point is you have to be extremely careful when in the mud in a rtv500. You cant always stay on top a the ruts and you cant always tell how deep a mudhole is until you get in it. When in doubt, go another way...

That's the same with all the UTV's from what I've seen. The 500 is around a 1200-1300 lb machine so it will sink but I haven't seen a utv yet that doesn't weigh quite a bit. If you run in mud all the time you want to consider getting a winch just in case but I'm surprised where the little 500 can make it.

I don't disagree with you overall...My tone may have been a bit off..Sorry:drink:
