Here are some pics of a snow blade I had made for my RTV. I was disappointed with the cost of the factory blade and the fact that it used an electric over hyraulic lift system even though my Worksite model already has hydraulics.

It is built using a 3 pt. grader blade. The blade frame was shortened 15" to reduced leveraged weight. It pivots on the CAT 1 pins. It will mount in the front and in the rear. In front, it slides into the receiver and bolts to the frame using the factory holes. In the rear, it slides into the receiver and is supported by chains to the frame at the spring shackles.

Hydraulic hoses with QDs were run to the front. Simply unplug the bed lift cylinder and plug in the hoses to the front or the blade lift cylinder if using the rear mount. This allows me to lift the blade using the handle at the seat.

The 3" X 8" cylinder I used was overkill on size but it is helpfull in slowing down the cylinder. Don't want to shock load the suspension. It is still very fast

This is way too cool!!! Your going to get a lot of requests for plans or even make-to-order (for guys like me who don't weld very well) Maybe even Kubota could learn a thing or two from you as well.
Thanks for sharing!

Front mounted, fully lifted = 24 inches clearance bottom of blade to the ground. I can drive this forward onto my trailer with the front blade attached

Here is a pic of the mount itself attached at the rear.

Here is a pic of the blade dismounted from mounting frame.

The cylinder attach point directly over the blade pivots to the left in the pic. This allows the cylinder to fully extend and gives you a "float" for the blade when it is in the down position.

chief5,

I built a custom rear bumper for my RTV and noticed that the hitch is really on the rear axle and everything else back there is the body/engine frame. So when I reenforced my bumper that used the hitch I had to take my braces to the axle tube.

Your system uses the hitch but then chains are attached to the body frame at the shackles. So when you tighten the chains it pulls the body frame down to the hitch and colapses the suspension... Does that work OK for this plow blade application?

FL Cracker:

I only finished it the day I started the post so I haven't actually used it yet but,

The chains do tighten against the suspension. I used the chains to help take the weight off the hitch when the implement was in the up position and to reduced twisting torque when dragging the implement. If the machine hits a bump that causes the supsension to travel, it will unload the chains temporarily. Because the weight of the blade in the rear position unloads the steering axle somewhat, I will probably have to build a weight bar for the front to use the blade in the back.

I will probably use the rear position more to drag a landscape rake or a 4 ft. box blade.

Flyingn:

Yes it does angle. It is just a 3 pt tractor style grader blade. I just had it shortened 15". As of now, the blade angle manually. I am working on adding a 2 spool control so I can angle it hydraulically.

Thanks for your input guys.

Nice job! That is the best way I've seen to add a blade to your RTV.

Thanks RTVman and Moon. I had fun doing it too. Also took a sheet of 1/8 aluminium and after a few bends have a pretty nice roof. I need to paint both the blade and roof and will post more pictures when complete.
