Wondering if everyone's fuel gauge is like mine. Going uphill, it reads between 1/2 and full, downhill it reads between 1/2 and empty. I think I have around 1/2 tank (sitting in the garage before I start it).

Shouldn't it have some sort of buffer to slow down the movement? I can rock the vehicle by standing beside it and the gauge will move 1/4 tank up and down.

The good news is that I've only put fuel in it once so far.

I think all fuel gauges on these type vehicles(non electronic sending unit) all do the same thing.

I have over 8 hrs and my gauge still reads full. Have not gotten around to calling the dealership.

I have almost 40 hours on mine, and the gauge has never come down off the full mark.
I mentioned it to the dealer, and they will fix it when I take it in for the 50 hour service.

According to rubber and mcherry, the RTVs get better mileage than I thought. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

At least my gauge moves, although a bit more than desired. I'm getting used to just checking it before backing out of the level garage.

I just replaced mine. Since it was delivered it always read 1/4 tank. Dealer ordered a new one and gave to me to replace. It took about 20 seconds. Unplug wires, pinch plastic wings on back of gauge, push out thru the back of dash. Reverse process to install new gauge. Easy, easy easy. New gauge reads proper fuel level but now fogs up. Contacted dealer, new one on order.

Sounds like they have a quality issue with the gauges. I did notice that once I get on the lower side of half tank, mine calms down and doesn't swing as wildly. That makes it more useful, since I'm mostly concerned when the tank is low.

I've never had any gauge fog up, including the speedometer that I just installed... not sure if I'm just lucky or it is weather related.

On the back of the gauge is marked the manufacturing date of the gauge. The original (non-working) gauge was made on 6/20/04. The new (working, but fogs up) gauge was made on 7/10/04. Also noted the new gauge gets pretty warm to the touch (from the back). Not sure if the old one did.

If it doesn't fog up within 1/2 hour with the temp gauge fogging at 1 hour; take it back to your dealership. Something is wrong then! /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif After 1 hour the only gauge that you should be able to read is the speedometer. Others should be a nice milky white. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
