I need a little help with this one.

Our RTV 900 worked great and ran great until I had the dealer do the 100 hour service. (They had a special going trying to get some service business).

They changed the fluids and filters. They may have also "adjusted" the hydraulic break valve thingy so it doesn't stop so suddenly. The stopping never bothered me and I did not ask them to adjust it.

Now the RTV hesitates when I press the accelerator. It revs up, just sits there for a second or two and finally starts to move. Same thing in all three forward gears and reverse. It also seems to have much less power than before.

I called and complained and they SAID they'd talk to the tech that did the work and immediately get back to me. Well, they haven't gotten back to me----unless "immediately" means more than a week. I've called and left another message and still no response. I'm to the point now where I may not want them working on it anymore.

It's another one of those things that I should have just done the service myself.

Anyway, any ideas as to what may be happening? Could they have installed the wrong or cheapo hyd. fluids? Did adjusting that valve (I forget what it's called) cause this? Could it simply be the cooler weather? We live in coastal South Carolina and it doesn't really get that cold here.

Thanks!

Hey I'm no expert but I do own the RTV500 that I've been posting the rattle complaint about. I have about 40 hrs on the thing and just getting used to how that hydraulic transmission works. To me if your machine is reacting different then its definatley a fluid pressure problem. Either they failed to add enough fluid, used a different fluid, changed a setting screw of maybe the idle setting for the engine. I was at first wanting the dealer to turn down the idle because the factory setting is around 1500rpm which is high but now understand that it takes that much rpm to keep the fluid pressure up. It's a little weird to me how a machine is engineered that won't even carry itself up a moderate incline without having to shift to low gear. Heck sometimes I have to use low gear to get it up my trailer ramp if you stop on the incline and try a go again. So bottom line is just take it back to the dealer and tell em to fix whatever they messed up.

It sounds to me like they may have adjusted the linkage. When you step on the gas, it moves the throttle and the hydrostatic on the trans. I would suggest trying to adjust is so the trans engages a bit sooner. It takes five minutes.

I'm not sure what fluid they put in it, but I'm pretty sure they played with the adjustments. The sales guy I spoke with has said they "always adjust the valve" to keep it from jerking to a stop because "Kubota told them to". I don't believe this and think it's just something the mechanic thinks he should do.

I'm going to keep calling tomorrow until I get the manager or owner of the place. I doubt that they will own up to whatever they did, but I'm very upset that after being in their shop for two weeks it'll have to go back again. Who knows how long that will take and if they can even figure out how to undo the damage they did. This, and I've totally lost all belief that they even know what they are doing.

I would try to find another Kubota dealer that knows what in the heck they are doing.I have NEVER heard of a dealer adjusting the coast valve unless the customer has asked them to do so.You can also call Kubota customer service in grovepoint Ohio and ask for there help also.Good Luck, coobie.

At the kubota school I went to, we were told NOT to adjust the coast valve.

Sounds to me like they drained the fluid completely and just didn't get enough back in, when I do my services I always fill it then run it around and let the fluid get pumped through the system, and it will usually require more fluid after that. Low fluid can be the cause of what you are describing, it's even more a PITA on the zero turn mowers.
