Has anyone mounted a gun/bow rack on their RTV. If so what kind did you buy and how did you mount it?

dkhunter,

I have a rifle and pistol mount on my RTV but my machine is so far from being OEM, I don't think they would easily convert to work on something Kubota made.
I do like and use the Kolpin rifle case but the mount they make for an ATV is based on 3/4" pipe (of which there isn't any on the RTV). I would think (but this is a guess) that the ATV mount could be re-drilled to fit a larger pipe. If so, a case could be mounted on some part of the ROPS or front grill guard if you got new U-bolts.

Sounds like nobody else mounted one, so let's work on one for you.
Where would you prefer mount it?
Do you want a rack (2 fork shaped things) or a rifle case (enclosed)?

BCZOOM,

I was just thinking about a rack that is easy to use similar to what is mounted in a pickup. I dont want to mount a large enclosed case because I dont have to travel that far. I think it would be much easier to use an open type of setup. My rtv has a hard cab so I guess you would have to mount it either to the inside or ouside of the rear window some how. Let me know what your thinking about.

dkhunter,
I've never seen a hard cab in person. Is the rear caged area covered with glass? If so, inside or outside? Do you have a camera where you can submit pics of the back of the cab? I'd like to see what's available for attaching to the ROPS and/or the cage.

My neighbor has the ATV mounted rifle rack (the open one like you're thinking of). I need to go look at it closer, but here's an option I'm thinking of:
In the attached pic, look for a pipe, near the top front (towards the windshield). The mirror and spotlight are mounted to it. I made/mounted this pipe specifically for mounting accessories that were made to mount to an ATV rack. If something like was mounted to the rear of your ROPS (and it can be mounted at any height), you should be able to mount a gun rack to it.

EDIT - BTW, there's pistol mounts made for this size pipe as well. I have one on mine (and you can see the little ball next to the mirror, but the holster/pistol are removed). If you're considering a pistol mount as well, this may work nicely. There's one on e-bay right now with a "buy-it-now" for $25.

Next post and pic is another alternative.

Another option may be to have the rack mount to the side of the cargo box similar to what I did (see attached).

For yours, instead of mounting/bolting directly to the box, use some U-channel (or similar) and have it slide over the side of the box, inside and out. A clamp of some sort to hold it in place. What's your box like? Completely open, spray in liner, drop in liner?
