I've been reading this page for about a month now, seems like Kubota is on the right track but needs some fine tuning,I think we will see quite a few replys on the subject and maybe even kubota might get some input. Ive tried out the RTV and the Ranger 4x4,, I like the Kubota except the problems we read about.
ps
excellent feed back on this page.

J Mack,
I think you you hit 1/2 of it and eluded to the 1/2 we need improvement on.
Yes - The RTV needs some fine tuning but as a whole, I still think it's a great machine.

The biggest issue I have is with the fact Kubota hasn't appeared to take our input (through forums or direct contact with dealerships). I hope you have a connection whereby some of this info can get to the appropriate people at Kubota.

What's coming to mind:
Gauges - Many have fogging issues. I was told by the dealer that they know of the problem and were going to switch manufacturers. Not sure what's going on but all that have gotten replacement gauges are having the same issues. Are they just dumping stock of the existing bad ones hoping maybe some are good?

Tranny - I'd say this is somewhat of a tuning issue. But, where's Kubota on providing info on resolutions.
- Dargo's issue with so much debris in system.
- The new "speed lever assembly". When you buy the part, the instructions say remove old, insert new. Kubota has eluded to adjustments to make this new part but hasn't provided. Without those adjustments, this part isn't working for those of us that have installed.

Parts & Accessories
I'm a bit disappointed with Kubota's lack to provide parts and accessories. Personally, I've found it difficult to get them and I'd say for the ones I've seen or purchased, they're extremely overpriced and/or of sub-par quality. Without elaborating here since all have been discussed in threads of this forum, here's some that personally come to mind.
Winch mount
Front storage box
Block heater
Bed liner
Grill guard
Speed control assembly

Thanks for the compliment on this forum having excellent info.

I've been very pleased with my RTV900 - can't complain at all.

IMHO, any product that ends up being written about in Internet forums always looks a lot worse that what the reality is. Kubota has produced thousands of these machines and I would be willing to bet that almost all of them have not had most of the problems mentioned in this forum. The only problem I've had is the gauge fogging and mine never get bad enough that you can't read them - just some minor condensation around the edges.

I like the VHT braking just the way it was originally designed - I'm sorry to hear they're fooling around with it on the new machines.

The only design change I would make would be more leg room or move the key position. On several occasions when I've been backing up, and turn to look backwards, my knee has hit the key and moved it to the off position. The first time this happen I almost needed new underwear as I though something really bad had happen to the engine/transmission. I wasn't aware that my knee had hit the key.

I agree with Lloyd. I love mine.. and the braking when I let off the gas..

Gauge condensation and fogging issue is being addressed, the new speed control lever is available in a kit that has instructions, parts & accessories were a pure supply and demand situatuion...the projected amount of RTVs sold at last year's dealer meeting was about 10,000 units and it's over twice that now (20,000+). Dealers and Kubota underestimated the demand for the RTVs and especially the parts/accessories. Demand for accessories was projected to be far less than 10,000. I think you get the picture. As for the accessories being expensive...you didn't know they were made of gold? /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif I don't know what's up with that.

ya know come to think of it. there is a nagging problem with my rtv.. The black plastic 'nut' that holds on the ignition key switch keeps loostening up! No matter how tight I get it it keeps backing off after a few hours.. Anyone else have this problem??

Frank,

Haven't had that one. Time to apply a little lock-tite?

No problem with mine either. Loctite will fix it for sure.

BTW, the part numbers for the new anti-fog Temp. & Fuel gauges are K7561-62523 (Fuel) & K7561-62534 (Temp.).
