JESSE1, I am wanting to import another German Shepherd Dog to go with mine, but my wife wants for me to wait for my two 15 year old Shelties to die first. The dog in my pics is imported from Hungry. He is the only dog out of his litter that didn't go to the US military. I love him, but he annoys my wife something fierce.

He obeys my every command, but will ignore my wife. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif That really gets her goat! Anyway, I'd love to get another companion from him, and I have a line on a great pedegree GSD from Germany that I'd love to get. I have to talk my wife into it, and then I need to decide if I want another male, or go ahead and get a female. If I get a female, I will have two GSD's with pure European pedegree with several European champions in their direct linage. Their puppies would bring a nice premium due to their impecible pedegree, with absolutely no inbreeding or hip dysplasia documented for 16 generations. What would you suggest? A male companion, or a female who would help me recoup some of my investment? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I would think the HPX Gators would do similarly well in the snow. They take the same wheel and tires as the RTV. I would think they would perform very similar in the heavy snow. I would think the 6X6 Ranger would do even better than my Rhino with 6 wheels turning. Anyone have any pics of a 6X6 Ranger in deep snow?

Either male or female German Shepherd will be a great member of the family. Having an unspayed female can be a problem with the heat cycles and an unneutered male! I personally leave the breeding to the kennels that show professionally. When I buy a pup, he will need to be at least 10 weeks old. There's a critical development period around 8 weeks that needs to be avoided. The pups can be stressed out during this period. Better to wait a few more weeks and avoid problems.

Shepherds and Shelties can get along very well. My sister has 5 Shelties that she is showing in obedience and agility. Our shepherds have been raised with them and there's no problems. The 15 yr old Shelties you have would be harassed by a young Shepherd pup. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif I don't think I'd subject them to that!

Our black and tan, Billy, is nearly 3 yrs old. His brother Thomas is 18 months. Same sire, different dam. I started showing Thomas in conformation this last summer. He's got a lot of maturing to do and I have a lot to learn in how to present the dog!

No snow but plenty of mud! The HPX is much better than the 6x4 in boggy conditions. My 6x4 actually had too much flotation and could get stuck fairly easily. The HPX has better ground clearance and being a 4x4 steers lots better in slick conditions. I also have the heavy duty traction tires that don't hold mud like the heavy duty tires my 6x4 had. The 2 speed trans helps a lot, too.
