Well, after 12 hours of use my nearly new RTV1140 fuel needle started showing in the red on the fuel gauge. I did a bad thing. I put two 5 gallon fuel tanks in the bed (Fuel for my BX25 and F3080) and drove down the hill, across the creek to the back road, then down the back road, then across Hwy 80 then down old Hwy 80 to the back entrance to the BP Station that sells Deisel fuel. Filled the RTV, then the 2 containers and rec'd a receipt for $60.02 and retraced my path. About a 4 mile round trip. Got up to 27MPH going slightly down hill in H and got up to about 17MPH in M. Thought I had flashers but if I do I couldn't find them. RTV and BX25 are now fueled up and ready to go.:)

That's about the only time I would rather not have my studded ice chains on my RTV 500....there is a gas station one mile from the house and a nice wide ditch I could cruise right down to get there...the 25 mph on studded chains just doesn't seem like a good idea though.

It's too bad they don't put odometers on these so we could figure out exactly how many miles a gallon we get. All I know is...it's alot

The fuel gage on my RTV 500 keeps eye-tricking me. :confused2:

It shows red to indicate the presents of fuel and white to indicate space in the tank.

I'm not an engineer but I would have designed it so red indicates empty.

Peeking in the cap to make sure it isn't empty ain't that bad of a task.

I'll keep it.

Wow John, I didn't realize I was putting hours on my RTV so much faster than you. I guess that's what I get for having 70 degree days since February :licking:. Last night I noticed my fuel guage in the red and I am at 26 hours. My first tank lasted until the 14 hour mark and this tank made it 12 hours. I guess I was taking it easy back in November and December on that first tank.

26 fun hours or any work involved? Getting ready to do a little work hauling dirt with mine when it warms back up and gets dry.

When I first got my RTV 900 (prior to me even seeing it) I was reading on this forum about how slow the Kubotas were and how underpowered they were when going up hills, how hard they are to shift etc. I have to say that from my perspective, that is all bunk. Mine shifts easy ,except when I stop on an incline, and then I only have to tap the throttle to get it to shift, it will climb my 30 degree slope in high range at half throttle and never slow down and if it went any faster I would want a crash helmet. I dont know what some folks expect from a work vehicle, but if I cant get where I want at 25+ MPH then I will take my truck. Love the hydraulic dump bed also.
